Our family's guide to the best RV campgrounds we've stayed at. Amenities, kid-friendliness, WiFi, and our honest ratings.
Finding the right RV campground can make or break a family road trip. Too crowded, and you're stressed. Too remote, and you're missing WiFi and hot showers. Too expensive, and you're eating into your adventure budget. We've tested dozens of campgrounds across the Southwest, and we're here to share what we've learned.
After years of full-time RV living and extended family road trips, we've developed a clear checklist for what makes a campground family-friendly:

Our Verdict
Best for exploring nearby towns and attractions. Good balance of amenities and location.
The best RV campground depends on what you're looking for. If you want convenience and amenities, KOA is hard to beat. If you want natural beauty and outdoor activities, state parks offer incredible value. If you want peace and quiet, head to the smaller, more remote campgrounds.
Our advice: mix it up. Spend some nights at a full-service KOA with WiFi and a pool, then a few nights at a state park with just the basics and lots of nature. Your family will get the best of both worlds.
Happy camping!
