Saturday we finally got on the new pickleball courts at Angel Fire Resort's Olympic Park Racquet Center. Brand-new courts. Brand-new pro shop. Perfect weather. Soft serve on the upper deck when we were done. That was the whole plan, and honestly, it was enough. This place is a serious upgrade for Angel Fire, and I like it more than I expected to after one afternoon.

Pickleball Finally Has Its Own Home Here

Angel Fire Resort's current court page lists eight dedicated pickleball courts alongside six resurfaced tennis courts and the Tennis & Pickleball Pro Shop. Now that the complex is open, pickleball is no longer being squeezed into a multipurpose compromise.

The setting is about as Angel Fire as it gets — cool mountain air, big open views, and courts just south of the Lodge on Highway 434 near the Country Club. The surface still has that just-opened clean look, and the whole complex feels built for people to actually hang out before and after a game instead of just rushing in and out.

Fresh Courts, Better Views

We played for a while, and nobody was rushing us. The courts are set up for the kind of easy Saturday where you can play a few games, take a breather, then decide whether one more game is really one more game. With the mountains and valley out around you, it is hard not to slow down and enjoy it.

I am not saying the scenery improves your backhand, but it sure does make a missed shot easier to live with. The facility has room to spread out, people were playing at their own pace, and it felt like the mountain finally gave pickleball a proper home.

Save Room for Soft Serve

When the paddles went down, we headed upstairs for soft serve on the upper deck. Cold ice cream after warm courts is a small ritual that works every time. Sitting outside, looking over the complex we had just played on, was the right way to end the afternoon. Great day to be outside. No big agenda past that.

What to Know Before You Go

Courts are open daily from sunup to sundown and are first come, first served. Everyone needs to register before stepping onto the courts. Friday through Sunday, when the Olympic Park clubhouse and pro shop are open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., check in there. Monday through Thursday, after hours, register at the Country Club reception desk on the lower level near the fitness center.

Guest pickleball is currently $15 per person for one hour; tennis is $15 per person for an hour and a half. Policies, court availability, clinics, and seasonal dates can change, so it is worth checking the resort's official court page before you head over. For lessons or racquet-center questions, the pro shop number is (575) 377-4444.

Check Angel Fire Resort's official Tennis & Pickleball page for the current registration details, fees, hours, and instruction information.

Bottom Line

If you have been waiting for real pickleball courts in Angel Fire, Olympic Park is worth the stop. Bring a paddle, register, play a few games, and leave time to sit upstairs afterward. The courts are clean, the setting is hard to beat, and the whole place gives you a good excuse to stay outside a little longer. We will be back.
